This first album and debut of the "Dark Glove" band is terrific. The tracks support the "White Light" documentary brilliantly. Favourite track "Chicago Street Prayer" is nothing short of enchanting and great listening. Love the way the tracks mould into each other to create that continuity of the music and feel. Throughout the music and tracks, the band work the music in such a manner so as to make for a unique listening experience. Great stuff guys.

This is a great album. A true example of how a small music contribution for a documentary can expand into an inspiring project.

We hear the blood
Of the slain
Of such hatred
Senseless loss
Lord we pray
End such hatred
Senseless loss
Precious life
End such hatred
Lord we pray
No guns no bullets
No blood no guns no bullets
These tracks were developed from the guitar ideas contributed to the George Gittoes Award Winning Feature Film Documentary, WHITE LIGHT, 2019. Long Lost Soul, Chicago Street Prayer and My Homie Ju are from the (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). Granted Permissions from the Producers at Gittoes Films Pty Ltd and affiliated Screen Australia and Create NSW.
Hellen Rose, the highly talented multi-media artist and Musical Director of the film, adds visionary lyrics and vocals to the guitar, bass & drum tracks inspired by the film White Light set in Englewood, South Side Chicago.
A welcome reunion with, my first bassist from 1972, Greg Williams and a recording opportunity with drummer Carl Manuell (both from Kulin Nation, Melbourne, Australia) provided the forum from which I could further develop and produce these tracks and release them under the name Dark Glove - Michael Sheridan.
TRACK INFO:
'Long Lost Soul' is a development of the guitar theme played under the scene of the Utah Gun Exchange presence, armoured car and mounted machine gun pervading a school children's Black Lives Matter rally, South Side Chicago.
'My Homie Ju' is a spoken word from the bridge scene in White Light. May Block's Li'l Mac, recalls, from the bridge, the eventual and grim discovery of his friend Ju who had been missing for weeks.
'Cycle of Vengeance' opens up hope for reconciliation, that the film strongly suggests, when Mayblock elder Smiley says' "there are no good guys or bad guys, it's just different people on different blocks" . Smiley and colleagues have formed intervention groups to talk down gun violence between gangs so they can negotiate and rise out of the vengeance-based cycle. 'Cycle of Vengeance' is a previously unreleased track.
'Chicago Street Prayer' is dedicated to the elders of Englewood. In the films opening scene, the elders quest & plea for divine guidance from the American social dilemma of gun violence is voiced in prayer on the street. The guitar theme segues scene two, the police shooting of Harith Augustus, where pursuit by foot was forfeited for the use of firearms. The track Chicago Street Prayer was developed post film final cut especially for inclusion in the unique and eclectic Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
'Entrapment Dub' is named in acknowledgement of the travesty of systemic racism. That which has always existed in colonised countries. Within the USA infiltration of excessive gun availability has resulted, as documented by the film, in an unacceptable fatality rate. I believe this systemic entrapment drives people to annihilate themselves from within. 'Entrapment Dub' is a previously unreleased track.
'Hellen Rose & the Choir of Lost Souls' features the extended vocal tracks of Hellen's plus the E Bow guitar recorded for 'Chicago Street Prayer' - remixed. Also, a previously unreleased track.
This music project is produced in direct support of the quest for equality, the Black Lives Matter movement and further steps towards World Peace.
